King Ferdinand of Ferdiland
Ferdinand the First, King of the Principality of Ferdiland, was a good king–as kings go. He was a kind man, to the degree that his responsibilities allowed. He was a fair and just king, or at least that was his reputation. He never led the Principality into war, and his guard kept enemies at bay (mostly). And he was well known for his generosity. But that last was only when his treasuries could afford it; for though King Ferdinand was good, and kind, and fair, and just, and temperate, and stalwart, not even his few close friends would ever call him wise. And every rook, knave, or cozener within three kingdoms knew this reputation.
